Increasingly Sluggish X30H Keyboard Response

Howdy,

I've scoured the forums and couldn't find anything on this, but I can't imagine I'm the only person it's happening to. I have an X30H with the Dell foldable keyboard (NOT the BT version). When I am typing in Pocket Word, generally the response of my X30 to typing starts out normal, and becomes increasingly slow over the course of an hour or so of constant typing. When it gets really bad, there can be up to a 15 or 20 second delay; that is, I'll have typed a few sentences of text, and then have to sit and wait for 15-20 sec (or more) as it appears little by little. Kind of reminds me of using a 300bps modem, back in the day.

The delay increases with time. It goes away, or diminishes by 90%+ if I save the document, exit Pocket Word completely, then go back into it.

Any idea what's doing this? I have the latest keyboard driver.

One possibility--I'm not sure, but suspect that the problem is exacerbated by doing other things on the X30, like starting/stopping wifi, etc.

Thanks,

Bob

What ROM revision are you running? There's a bug in earlier ROMs where your memory fill up with ? (can't think of it know...) and it slows you to a crawl. Scarybear software came out with a fix.
Anybody know what I'm writing about?

I've got A05 on there. And v. 2.01 of the keyboard driver.

Go to the Scarybear software site and get the freeware app called check notifications and the related fix. That could be the problem and the answer. Those notification things have been known to build up. Check Notifications finds them and lets you delete duplicates, the fix stops it from happening again.

Hi DP,

Thanks for the tip. I put check notifications on there, and alas, there really weren't any excess notifications to get rid of (haven't had that many resets). Nice of scarybear to put out a free fix in any event. All the same, I cleared out the duplicates that were there, and will advise. The real test is this week in class when I'm furiously hammering on the keyboard taking notes.

I'm surprised others haven't had this problem. One classmate has an Axim X3i--same keyboard--and reports the same issue.

Thanks again,

Bob

Welp, gave it a shot, and it's still sluggish. Might there be something else? My hunch is that the keyboard driver is bad.
