X30 Display TOTALLY SCRAMBLED!!

Howdy all,

Newby to this forum, 1 week old X30, got it from the school I work at, the screen is totally jumbled, vertical multicolored lines that have no resemblance to anything....Tried hard and soft reboots to absolutely no avail....Still totally jumbled screen...

Anyone had anything like this happen and any possible solutions shy of dealing with DELL??

Thanks in advance,

Jared Jeffries

Welcome to the site!!

Sounds like the screen needs replacing.

If the warranty is expired I would contact PPCTechs.com as they will be able to replace it for you.

Have the same issue, got the PDA replaced two weeks later the new PDA did the samething.

Dell's help was "Duuuh swap out PDA".

my advice to u: u better off getting a new x30, and sell the current one maybe for the half of the original price, thus u get a new PDA... and the replacement cost should almost cover about the remain difference of ur PDA price. Just look out for coupons, and discounts!

Well, or maybe replacing a new screen is a better choice!

one thing for sure, if u don have Accidental Coverage and ur PDA is not few day old, don bother call DELL! but since urs is only a week old, go call them and screen at them, and keep Bsing, hehehehehe! Don't give up until they agree to help u! hehhheeeee

My Dad's X3i did this yesterday after falling from the car seat to the floor area. Any luck fixing yours? It's not like a broken screen. But I can't think of anything else to try.

Did you try letting the battery and the back-up battery run down and then see if it works?

Exactly the same problem...

I've got exactly the same problem. I don't know how to fix it. I think the screen connection to mother board is loose. I'm trying to find a way to open this pda's case. No screws or anything! Currently searching the net desperately for a hardware pdf manual or something.

Any help from public domain will be useful.

Addition...

Rang Dell... got transferred to Indian call centres.. it was hell experience. Im not liking Dell anymore for re-badging other company's works and faulty item like this. Bought the item from US now trying to tranfer it to Australia so I can get a replacement. I'm going to sell this replacement without opening it. Maybe will go for HP or O2 with phone functionality.

Cheers
