Finally discovered cause of mysterious data loss/corruption?

Since day one, I've been suffering from my X30H (apparently) randomly corrupting or deleting data. This has occurred with data in RAM, ROM, and on SD. It's made it impossible for me to rely on it for anything more than a geek toy.

Last week I bought a new set of Sony earphones, which are designed to be placed deeply in the ear. I soon got quite a shock--literally. Every 5-15 minutes while wearing them and listening to my Axim, I'd get a slight electric shock in my right ear. I assumed it was a fault with the earphones, so exchanged them, deciding to upgrade to a slightly better model.

Surprise, surprise--the electro-shock-therapy continued. With all I read on here about issues with the headset plug, it suddenly seemed more likely that the issue is with my Axim. And if it's putting out occasional electric spikes, it can certainly be zapping the assorted storage devices.

Anyone else observing similar "performance?" I'm calling Dell in a few hours to arrange for a replacement. Then I'm putting it up for sale and buying an iPaq.
