I am trying to do a periodic backup of my X30 mid using the built in data backup utility and I couldn't figure out why it reported that the 200+ megs of room on my SD card was inadequate. Then I looked at the space requirement-- 378 megs for the backup file. They usually run in the 16 meg area. I am using a Kingston 512MB SD card. I haven't seen a post about this specific problem and would greatly appreciate any help.
I don't recall about the built-in backup, but Sprite wants to back up the contents of the SD card as well as all internal memory. Could this be the same thing?
Are you sure that's the built in backup program you're using? Do that soft reset and see if anything changes.

Thanks for the quick suggestions. I did a soft reset and configured it the way I usually do (back up all data) and it's still coming up with the 378. Normally even backing everything up it only needs 16 megs. I've never had issues with this SD card but could that be the problem?
I doubt that the card will create this problem but if you want remove the card and try to backup to main or BIS memory and see if the 378Mb still stand. Are you sure that the backup selection doesn't includes the card content?

Frenchy, I don't think it includes the card content as I'm not doing anything different from my other periodic backups. I removed the card as you suggested (good thinking) and it's still coming up at the 378 number. I tried the quasi-hard reset thing trying to scare it back into shape and that didn't do anything either.
I don't think so. In fact, I don't think I've changed anything since my last backup 25 days ago. I tried it off the cradle just to compute the space it needs and it's just stuck on the number.
Any other ideas? I thought resting over night might make a difference but it still needs a third of a gig to backup. Are there at least other posts I may have missed that might explain how to get this thing right?
Thanks Frenchy. I don't know what might have happened since the last backup to fry this thing. Maybe I'll just hard reset or wipe the SD card and start over.
This would have been my last suggestion. We were trying to avoid this in the forst place. You can also restore from your last available backup and see if things are better.
