My X30 Died today
Last night my Axim X30 high was working fine. We read together yesterday evening. Today he is dead. When I first tried to power it on today, I would see color bars across the screen. Now I dont' even get that. The power button will not turn it on. If I run it off of AC, I get an orange light for the battery/charge indicator, and it will even turn green when fully charged. But the unit is dead. Any suggestions? I guess I'll buy an X50v.

I tried hard reset, draining battery, charging battery.. Nothing works. I'll check again, but I'm fairly confident that my warranty is up. I opted not to get the 3 year warranty. It's been over a year.

If you used your credit card, check to see if you have extended warranty to provide an extra year of warranty. Most basic cards have that. Check online under the insurance coverage. Here is an example.

Example:
========
Extended Warranty:

Extended Warranty Insurance automatically doubles the original manufacturer's warranty, up to a maximum extension of 1 year. Your Extended Warranty insurance starts immediately following the expiry of the original manufacturer's warranty, but in no event shall the combined Extended Warranty and original manufacturer's warranty exceed 5 years, and is subject to the terms and conditions of that original manufacturer's warranty, in addition to the terms and conditions outlined in this Certificate of Insurance.

Items covered by Extended Warranty must have been purchased using your RBC Royal Bank VISA Classic. Included are personal property and items you give to household members. The purchases can be made anywhere in the world. The original warranty must be valid in Canada.

In the event your original manufacturer's warranty is no longer available due to the bankruptcy of the manufacturer, this insurance will provide coverage in place of the original manufacturer's warranty, to a maximum of 1 year from the date of bankruptcy of the manufacturer.

You have nothing to lose but everything to gain. Get your credit card working for you, don't let them suck you for the interest charges only.

If you can't get it working, I'd love to work out a price for it from you. I need an X30 that has good connector pins. I am working on a project with my and we have an old unit with bent pins and want to try and replace them to see if it can be done.

Let me know if you are interested.

Thanks

Dell X30 just crapped out also
What's going on, I just experienced same thing, all exactly as you described. It's dead. At least I just bought it in March.

Ordered X50v today. I want to put the broke X30 on Ebay now. How can I ensure that noone can get my data, if they are able to fix it? If I can't do this, then I will probably keep the X30..

Can you access the Axim through Activesync?

Otherwise, leave the unit completely unplugged, let the back-up battery drain completely, and let the RAM revert to original. Then you know that everything but the Built In Storage will clear.

As for the BIS...that's a tricky one. Any suggestions?
