Hi everybody, I was told that there are alot of experts on this website who would be able to help me solve the problem of changing languages on X30.
I want to go from FRENCH to ENGLISH and I need help and directions on how to do this...

I need help can somebody please help me ???

um, i suggest dont do it, i tried and mine turned into a brick. pressing the powerbutton doesnt even do anything.

yeah it can happen i have had a few units in work do that but hey whats life without risks... plus if you brick it you can send it back to DELL (if its still in warrenty) and say it wont switch on and they should replace it!! hehe

Excuse my english I speak spanish only.
I have the best solution for change the languaje of your axim from and towards any language. You need the rom of the languaje to use:

Non-combo models: P16A_ALL_N_10070400EN.IMG (english)
Combo models: P16A_ALL_C_10070400EN.IMG (english)

If you download the rom from Dell page you can change the .Exe extension for an .Zip extension and extract only the file you need.
Then copy this rom into an SD card (in FAT16 format only) and insert in the axim. Put your x30 in the craddle or plug directly with the power supply (unplug usb cable).
Then you need to press and hold this buttons:
Reset Button + Power Button + Jog Dial (is under the earphones plug) + Contacts Button
Then release only the Power Button and the Reset Button, if is ok the Power Button are blinking and then you can see the boot screen, release the other buttons and DON´T TOUCH THE SCREEN PLEASE Automatically the axim load the new rom from the SD card and erase the old rom and write the new. When this process finish the axim reboot and initialize and you can configure.
I change my X30 and my old X5 from English to Spanish without problem.

Yes it works...The method!!! I have not tested going from one language to another though. I did use it to downgrade roms and it worked. I would say the ability to brick would be on a similiar level......downgrading versus language change.

Don't work for me either.... same situation.

Is there a Tutorial on how to revive a bricked x30?
I saw a tutorial on how tp revive a bricked x51v just wonder if
there is one written up for "BRICKED X30"

Are the symptoms of the unit no power???? If you cant get it to power up I'd say your stuck....Otherwise try booting from SD and reload your old ROM. I am far from an expert though. I read that you should hex edit the rom first before uploading. Apparently there are other guides on this that clearly explain it. Apparently the rom still needs to tell the axim it's the same language but after erasing and re-writing and then booting it's the english rom....Something about copying and pasting the first couple of the lines from your old rom onto the english rom and saving it as the original french rom..then upload via SD card from hard reset explained above.

There are some guides available and a quick search will unearth it if you get it up and running again..

Yes the unit has power "Green light on the power button". Unfounately I can't power on with either hard or soft reset.

I followed the instructions to change the language from Spanish to English (upgrade from earlier verion to A06).The unit erased the older rom /loaded the new rom from SD card. All went exactly according to the way the procedures described. After the completion of the process the unit tried to reboot. Instead of seeing the new English language on my X30. I saw an expensive paper-weight.

ANy one has any suggestion on how I can get this sucker back to life??

Thanks for THE tips... it's the only one which work...

just a small different step (from A01FR to A06EN) :
PUSH : POWER+RESET+SOUNDLEVEL (JogDial) + CONTACTS
then RELEASE POWER (only)
then DO A RESET (release + push + release)
then POWER BLINK IN GREEN AND A "WONDERFULL" BOOT WINDOW APPEAR.
then I RELEASE CONTACTS AND VOLUME(JogDial)
AND WAIT,WAIT,WAIT
1: erasing
2: flashing
3: waiting and reboot...
...: ENJOY

now I've the last 2005 A06EN on my French.

another tip : I've done a backup to know the "type" (COMBO or NOT) of my AXIM. (do not know the difference...)
