Axim X30 SD 4GB Memory Card works

Hi Everyone,

I have searched the forum looking for info on the largest SD Memory card for the Axim X30 and did not have much luck as most users were mentioning the 2.0Gb cards and nothing larger in a recognised brand available in the UK was confirmed.

After a couple of false starts I managed to find a 4.0Gb card that works great in the Axim X30.

Card Details: Datawrite 4.0Gb SD Memory card
Highest Read/Write speed upto 24MB/sec

Available from www.burn-media.co.uk @ £47 + tax P+P

The card shows 3.7Gb usable storage formatted in FAT32 and is fast.

Hope this info helps someone. :approve:

To be really sure your Axim x30 take advantage of the total 4gb SD card, I think you should try to install as much application you can until it tell you that memory can't write.

I have bought a 2gb kingston and I was excited to see that 1.908 gb was recognize but unfortunately I discovered in time that I could only install 400meg, not even half of 1 gb.

I do not know if there is a fix for this issue.Maybe I should format it in fat32 to see if I could go further. However I would suggest you to install as many demo application you can, with music, data also.

If it let you fill it up to 80% then it really can use 4gb.Until now, no Dell costumer support agent ever told me that Axim for beyond 1gb.I wish they were wrong or someone can prove me a way around to avoid the 1gb limitation.

I have been using a Samsung 4GB SDHC card (FAT32) and can use the expected 2GB. I have had as much as 1960MB without problems.

4 gb in x3i

I've used a 4 gb kingmax SD in my x3i (I ssume then that it would work for x30) and x50v. In the x3i it says 3950 Mb available, 3221.72 Mb used and 728.28 Mb free. All the videos are useable.

I believe now that Axim x30 can take 4gb.Dell support tried to convince me very hard that Axim only support 1gb.I wish they were wrong but aren't they suppose to know their product better than us?

I finally try by my self a 2gb and it work fine, after having format it fat32.The default fat16 make me see only 433 meg.I need now to try the 4gb but I must buy the right SD card. Many Axim user tell me about the transcend card.I'm looking to buy one. Meanwhile I purchased one OEM 4gb SD card on Ebay from China for only $14.I have yet to see if it work fine.

Hi

I've used a transcend 4GB sd card ( not HC nor high speed) for 3 months and works a treat. Amazon UK sells them for around GBP20.

Also note that the Amazon Bytestor 2GB sd card can "self lock" dependent on what computor you are using. If you're unlucky it will end up as a read only.
