Moving AxtiveSynch Instalations to a new PC without starting all over

I will sell my computer to a friend and buy my self a new one.I will have to format my computer and get a fresh Installation for him.

I never had this experience before to connect my Axim to a new different computer than the one where his programs were installed from.Am afraid that if I install it on a different PC with a fresh ActiveSynch, the PDA wouldn't find any previously installed programs and thus, would uninstall all existing program inside my Axim x30.

I imagine that every time Axim try to synch with the Activesynch/host PC it need the original location where it store data to synch.

What solution should I take? Please help.

Assuming your new computer is running Windows XP (If your computer is running Windows Vista - you'll install Windows Mobile Device Center, but the process will be similar):

Install ActiveSync to your new computer

Create an ActiveSync partnership

Sync to your computer.

None of your installed applications will change on the pocket pc. When you sync your Outlook data, ActiveSync will detect the data already on your Pocket PC and ask you how you wish to proceed. You'll be given three options, something like this (I'm working from memory here):

Combine the data on the computer and the pocket pc
Replace the data on the pocket pc with the data from the computer
Do nothing

I will use another XP installation.I hate vista. So you mean that, without any data on the new computer it will not try to delete what is already on my Aximx30?

I was afraid that the new computer put all my installed application unchecked in the Activesynch ADD/remove for removal. You mean with a new fresh and virgin partnership I would still keep my old programs already installed onmy Axim?If so,that's great news and would satisfy me
