Lost Block Recognizer, Letter Recoginizer, & transcriber
Hello everyone, I am a new user to PDAs in general. Never had one so I can use all the help you are able to give. I bought my PDA brand new at eBay. Never used. It was ordered for 4 doctors. It came with a lot of wonderful software, but I had to do a Hard Reset and all the programs were lost. Is there a way I can get these back or maybe someone who sells it inexpensively. I also have no idea how to get on the internet. I do have a wireless Dell Inspiron 1505 and have wireless at home and can get on the web at any hotspot but, not so with the PDA, am I supposed to do something to make it work? Thanks a whole bunch

Rosa

Hi Rosa,

For help configuring your WiFi you probably should start here:
http://wifi.aximsite.com/wifi_net.html

As to your programs lost with the hard reset perhaps you could list them.

The input methods should certainly be there, especially after a hard reset.

Peter. Thanks! I got the wifi working. I was able to recover the software. I didn't do a hard reset but the soft one. I believe the programs I mentioned come with all the x30s... that's what I read in one of the threads. I am very happy with this result. I still have problems with the internet ie: when I go to eBay I can't sign on or anything. I only see the eBay site for a few seconds and then it disappears. Does anyone have a problem like that? Yet, I go to my site at index and no problem...it seems so far to be only with eBay. Can I open up my pda software in a card and use it from there or do I have to put it in the pda itself? Thanks a bunch to all of you. I love this site, everyone is so kind and helpful.

Yes, you are right. I don't know what I did, but I clicked on something and all was well. I also read that this software comes included in the x30 so I am very happy. I am a real newbie at this. I am great when it comes to computers but I didn't even know that pocket pcs existed until I started browsing around in eBay and found them and I just had to have one. I love electronics (once I learn how to use them)

Some sites, especially those that require lots of 'oomph' or fancy things (like Flash I think), are just too much for Pocket IE to handle. For instance, signing out of the regular Yahoo! Mail interface for me has always resulted in a crash when I use PIE; to semi-get around this, I just used the mobile version of Yahoo Mail. There is also a mobile version of Ebay I would recommend using with PIE- the URL is eBay mobile

Hi Rosa,

I run normal ebay on my x30. The large number of pictures do eat up your memory. How much free memory do you have?
Also I wonder if the display size might be the problem.
I don't suppose it's just gone off screen and you need to slide
the scroll bars to see it?

Hi, I checked out the mobile eBay so I'll let you know how it goes. Hope that works because when I need something, eBay is the place to go; especially when buying things for my axim

I don't know how I can find out how much memory I have. I do know that I don't have any programs that I put in myself. My axim just has the minium it came with, which includes the block letter recognizer, etc. I haven't put in any programs or updates therefore, I guess all the memory it came with. It's a new axim x30. Thanks a bunch to all of you.

Peter, it not that its gone off the screen or slide. It just starts up for a few seconds, then it's completely gone

Xtreme. Ok, I did use the ebay mobile and it works great! Thank you so much for the advice. I also found I can get to my aol account through aol.portal so I am happy with that also. I guess I don't need outlook if I can go into my email that way, right? I am learning little by little with the help of you all. Again, thanks a bunch

how do I install total commander? Do I install directly to the x30? I saw the programs you use on your x30. I have lots of programs but I don't know how to install. I don't know if I need to install on SD card or into the x30. I will appreciate your help or anyone else. As always thank you so much.
