A good SD for X3?
If anyone has received their X3 and has used a 256 SD card, what brand and part number have you found works with the X3? I will be getting an SD card, but want to make sure the one I get will work and not give me a ton of grief.

Dont have an x3, but Lexar is always in my mind the best brand to get. Good quality, fairly low price, good compatibility.

I did alot of research on speed and quality of SD cards and in my opinion Simpletech is simply the best. One of very few that will run at 10x speed and it's made in Japan. Sandisk made in China equals problems. Had a PNY before but it was really sloooow. My second choice would be the Lexar. I does seem though anything made in Mexico and China are having their fair share of problems.

By the way, when I bought my 256 Simpletech 2 weeks ago, Buy.com was by far the cheapest.

lexar is sometimes made in china......the lexars made in japan are usually from the same OEM as simpletech though.

japanese SD has been so reliable in pretty much all devices i cant imagine it failing in the X3, especially with all the crap Dell got about SD in the X5.

I'm pretty sure Dell only uses Sandisk, could be wrong but Sandisk has a price advantage over the others. I have a Simpetech 256 10x card and it's fast!

sandisk 256
I bought two sandisk 256mb cards for $55 each on dell months before x3i went on sale. they work great in the x3i and my palm zire 71.

Theres not much different in the speed of my sandisk/lexar/viking sd. i think the limitation is in the hardware which reads/writes data to the sd rather than the sd itself (for now at least). Escpecially true of my palm zire 71 , which is like 20 times slower to read/write sd than the x3i.

Question on Lexar SD cards: Is there a difference between BLUE cards and BLACK cards? I bought a Lexar 256MB SD and it is blue, but I've also seen black cards of the same size.

I haven't taken it out of the package yet, and it's not with me here at work...I was just wondering. Maybe just a difference in OEM suppliers.

FYI...The blue Lexar 256MB that I got from Compusa is made in Japan.

Maybe the blue are Japan and the black are China or Taiwan...I can't verify because I don't have a black Lexar card.

that definitely isnt the case because the majority of the bad lexar cards (and the majority of lexar SD in general) seems to be blue. whether a black card means for certain that the card is made in China or Taiwan is unknown.
