X3i Hard Cases
Hi,

What would be a good case for my Axim X3i? I am interested in a hard case, that can handle some abuse (not much, but like throwing the PDA in my bag). Also are there any cases that have slots for sdio cards, and able to stay on while in the cradle?

Thanks,

-Tom

Rhinoskin Aluminum
Well, one case to consider for ruggedness is the Rhinoskin Aluminum. It's tough and has a place for 2 SDIO cards build into the case. However, you will have to remove the X3 from the case to charge (both cradle and travel).

How do I go about purchasing one of these for my X3? I didn't select it when I bought it, and I already have the X3 at home.

its on the accessories page ... but to get to the right one do the following:
- go to main dell site
- click on your shopping cart
- at the bottom of the this page click the link under "continue shopping" for Handhelds
- click the link for Dell X3 accessories

I plan on sending mine back, having to take the unit out of the case every time you want to charge the unit sucks.

Thanks!

It looks like a really nice case, not 100% sure yet so if there is any other cases out there that include what I want let me know. But this one is really nice, to bad you have to take it out to put on the cradle but it ain't that bad.

The Rhinoskin Aluminum is nice...but not being able to charge it while in the case is a major pain. I wanted to just leave it in there to charge. i'm going to return mine. I sent Rhino an e-mail seeing if they plan on releasing an update.

I agree, it is a MAJOR pain having to take the case off to charge it and I hope to see some better cases in the future from any manufacturer!

I just heard back from customer service at Rhino Skin. They are going to ship me a replacement free of charge. They don't have an ETA on the new case, but they are well aware of the problem.

How hard is it to take the X3 in and out of the case? It seems like it would not be very fun using the X3 in it's case because the cover doesn't fold to the back (or am I wrong) and I was thinking of just using the case when I go out.

Tight Case
I felt the case was too tight. It took a lot of pressure to pull it out of the case. Nothing really good to grab onto in order to pull the Axim out. The cover does make it a little tricky for getting comfortable since the cover does not remove.

I returned mine and for the time being, I'm happy with the leather case that came with the Axim until I read of "the perfect case" and see some pictures or what it looks like.

I'm looking for an X3 user to help me determine if our #126 SmarterCase is well suited for marketing as an Axim X3 case.

See them at www.smartercase.com

There's a free sample in it for someone!

I am awaiting my X3i (has already been shipped) and would be very happy to try out your case.
