iPAQ chargers are compatable
I had an old Portable Power charger for my iPAQ 3800 and noticed it used the same size plug as the X3's. I charged my X3 with it last night and it works fine! The unit was one I got from Comp USA a year ago for $40.00. It has an "intelligent" cable to limit charging, and adapters for AC, cigarette lighter plug, and USB. It also came with a zinc air battery to use when there's nothing to plug in to. So, any iPAQ power supply should work with the Dell connector. If only the sync & charge USB cables were the same

have you checked the voltage and amps for that AC adapter to make sure they are IDENTICAL to the one for the X3? if not you could do some serious damage to your X3 and be left with a coaster for your coffee table.

Voltage OK, current is low
I checked the voltage of the X3 adapter, iPAQ adapter, and Portable Power adapter, and they're all 5 volts. I recently noticed that my Kodak camera adapter is the same voltage and plug size.

The iPAQ adapter was 2.1 Amps, while the Portable Power was .7 AMps. Therefore, it charges more slowly.

The current affects how quickly your device charges, and the adapter's ability to run multiple items. The Dell cradle can charge two batteries, and has two things that light up. I'm using the low power adapter to charge the PSA by itself, so it should be fine.

Dell says it requires 5.4 volts, and 2410 amps.
I will work at other values, for instance the USB chargers are 5 volts, and if the main battery is charged enough (80%) it will charge (below 80% and it could discharge).
