Taiwan made Lexar SD card mislabeled "Made in Japan" on package.

I heard someone getting a Lexar 256 MB SD card that's made in Taiwan but with "Made in Japan" on the outside plastica package. Does anyone know more about this kind of practice?

Lexar has since stopped mislabeling its SD cards. this was common practice up to several months ago, i believe. it was ended thanks in large part to the efforts of Happycheesecake.

Now Lexar labels SD cards as "made in Japan or Taiwan (or China?)" It is still possible that you might run across one of the old packages but I would be concerned about it. That said, I would not rely on packaging to tell you where a card is made.
