After bagging an X3i for £20/$30 after a long drawn out issue with Dell, I was half tempted to flog it on, I mean surely its a fancy organiser? How rong could I be? Im obsessed, I love it
Now, I use it on the tube to watch Xena. I have some real cruddy headphones. I also am about to buy an iPod so obviously am in the market for buying some decent headphones. Because I would use them both for my PDA and Pod I am indifferent about whether to get black or white ones. Whats the general consensus with the sound trhat comes from PDAs? Im using real crappy headphones at the moment so its hard to see if it could be decent quality.
Im gonna get the Sony EX71SL. If the sound is pretty useless with all headphones Ill go for the white option, and use the hceap pair I have at the moment with the PDA, but if the sound can be improved with a decent set of earbuds, Ill plump for the black ones
I just bought those headphones here in california not 2 weeks ago (for my Nomad Jukebox Zen mp3 player) and I absolutely LOVE them. Really good noise cancellation, and they are a comfortable fit in the ears.
I've used them on my x3i, and the sound is surely louder than you'd really ever need, and with less background noise, you'd probably require an even lower volume level.
I was hesitant at first to try earbuds, but these are terrific.
I know they are good at blocking out noise, but how good is the sound on the X3i potentially? I mean, music wise, is it as good as an MP3 with these headphones?
The sound quality will be pretty decent, but it's unlikely that it'll be of the same quality as a dedicated mp3 player (since more of the cost of one of those goes into dedicated sound hardware chips)
The EX71's are pretty good. If you're looking for the white ones, you won't find them in the shops here because its not an official Sony UK product.
I found them cheaper, amazon do them for 25.99 inc and the white ones can be gotten from the pda gurus shop.brando.com.hk for $49, about £26.20. I feel bad, I hassled them for ages to start selling them and now im gonna plum for the black ones
The white ones would look the best but there are too many neds about in London, I think id just end up asking to be mugged

the more relevant question is, are you an audiophile?
if yes, then the answer to your second question is probably no.
i cannot tell the difference between an mp3 played on my PC and one played on my axim (when playing through the same set of speakers).
ok since you seem the type that doesn't have a problem with things in his ear I have a good headphone for you ...The Koss Headphones ( ear-bud ) is one of the best you can get for sound and price....I find that with sony headphones they always seem to short out in about a year or sometimes less...while that is possible with the Koss atleast they have a lifetime warranty. And you get all of this for ten bucks(us dollars) http://www.buy.com/retail/product.as...0&loc=101&sp=1

I use a pair of Radio shack headphones that have titanium drivers. They are not earbuds and go over the head. Not my favorite way but the Sound is great!!! If you are looking for sound with low price this is the way to go. They are made by Koss and they offer the same on their sites.
I listened to my PDA last night at home, while I was working on a project for work. I was listening to my mp3 player, but remembered this thread, and switched over to my PDA and fired up PocketMusic. I set the eq to "headphones" and cranked the volume up.
I usually rip my mp3's at 160, but I have several at 192 as well. With the TV on in the living room, with me at the dining room table (about 8 feet away) and these earbuds on, I couldn't hear anything from the TV (except between songs) and I found that the volume at about 85% of volume max was sufficient for me to work, listen to music adequately, and still not hear any ambient noise.
I do tend to prefer my music fairly loud, but I think that anywhere between 6-8 (out of 10) on a volume scale would be good for all but the noisest of environments. I gave it a good listen.....I couldn't tell any real difference between mp3's played on my Nomad versus the Axim. The only real noticiable difference was the lack of ability to really escalate the Axim's volume level to as high as I could on the Nomad.

It's not for everyone....but for the price and the quality of the headphones make them good....I myself seem to hace no problem with them after a while...besides a little ear wax...
