almost nothing will max out the full potential of USB 2.0. do you know any media that can write at 60MB/sec? so what if I don't get 60MB/sec, or even the 10MB/sec "max" of my SD card? USB 2.0 is three times faster than USB 1.1. Is that worthless?

IR is at least 10 times slower.

I find writing to/from flash memory with a dedicated reader/writer is much, much faster than writing directly to or from the card when it's in the Axim. There's a huge difference in speed, so I would invest in the reader/writer.

anyone know how to mount the file system on an SD card in a reader in Linux?

What device - What file system type?
