Memory Cards

Hi. I'm a n00b. I just got my Dell Axim X3 recently and I'd like a memory card for it. What memory cards have the highest memory per dollar? What are other things that are important to look for in memory cards. Thanks!

Well your choice is either SD or MMC, choose SD. MMC is slower, older, and only up to 128MB in size.

The cheapest MB per $ size right now is 256MB SD, with 512MB catching up fast if you can find a decent offer.

I agree on the 256mb SD. You'll find deals with rebate for around $40 U.S. You could also check the classified sections for deals sometimes.

Also, this is the best deal forum I've seen for memory cards...
scroll down a bit for SD. He updates it frequently.

I hope you find something cheap...

Thanks so much for the responses, guys. Are the memory cards going to be dropping anytime soon?

Edit: Also, I need a CF card, right? Thanks so much again.

So that's Secure Digital? Are these things planning to drop in price soon?

....they just did....the prices you see now are the prices they will probably be at for the next 4 months. sandisk initiated a 20% price drop on everything last month and competitors have followed suit.

don't expect anything much better than what you see now, i.e., $40AR for 256, roughly $100AR for 512. that's SD.

I'd recommend avoiding sandisk. Stick with Lexar, Kingston, Toshiba, Panasonic etc.
