Alternative AC Adapters?
Hi,

I need to charge in two locations without lugging around all the extra stuff.. my understanding is that the x30 high comes with both a cradle and a power adapter, but they both require the single ac adapter that is included. The ac adapter is $20 from Dell which seems excessive. Has anyone had any luck with third party ac adapters? Is this a "standard" adapter type that I can pick up in radio shack (or, if I am lucky, in my old adapter bin)?

I had planned to get one of those travel charger kits, but I have come to realize the bank account has depleted a little too quickly and am looking for alternatives.

Regards,

Artuk

I can't imagine adapters being cheapter. If I recall correctly, radioshack sell them for atleast a few bucks, plus, you have to take the cradle which is quite big...

the best deal for $ and portability is those sync/charge usb kit

ebay and search for something like
axim sync cable

goes from 4-7 bucks with couple more bucks for shipping.

for a few dollars more, you get the retractable cable.

fo 15 bucks + 5 bucks shipping, you can also get 3 piece sync kit, you can search for it like axim sync kit 3 etc

didn't post link because I am too lazy to actually read this site's policy regarding things like that

anyway, I don't have that psecific kit, but I have everything and they all work and as far as I can tell, they are all the same just different brand... all have the upside down plug lable...

I can't live iwthout these cables/adapters, my cradle is only used to charge my extra batteries.

edit: oh I use sync as search term only, they all sync and recharge through usb post on the computer/car/outlet etc.

Do you need to be able to charge in a car. (I don't) I got an AC charger on eBay for $10 including shipping. There's a ton of them out there on eBay, and supply is much higher than demand. Just wait till it's about to expire and bid the minimum. It' works okay, charges fast, but makes a very soft buzzing sound. It came with the X3/X30 adapter built on. Wierd thing though, when I went to insert the plug with "TOP" up, it wouldn't fit. Flipped it over so the "TOP" label is down, and fits fine.

I got the 3-in-1 Sync, car, AC Charger from Belkin. Used the 50% Off coupon and got them for $20USD. This is the same one Dell sells for $39.95.
