PNY SD Memory Cards - Good/Bad?

Hi Gang,

CompUSA is selling 256 MB PNY SD cards for $44.95 plus the manufacturer has a $5.00 rebate making the cost $39.95.

Sounds like a great deal.....but:

The package and website does not state any info on read/write speeds, so I don't know if this is a great deal or not.

Anyone have any experience with PNY?

I have two PNY 256 MB SD cards that I've used with my X5 for quite some time. I've never done a speed test, but they seem as fast as the lexars and kingstons I use. No problems for me with PNY, and that's a pretty good price.

There are alot of deals for 256mb sd cards for $20-$25 online.

Most of those $20-25 online deals are deals that have a final cost after a $20 mail in rebate.

If you know of a deal where the upfront cost is $20-$25.... I'm all over it!

Anything not marked is about 8-12x, Lexar 32x are 32x150kB/s transfer. The Panasonics and Sandisk Ultra are ~9-10MB/s transfer - double that of the Lexar 32x. Running programs on normal or fast is a don't care, but transferring mp3s, oggs, video would tax your patience on anything but a fast card.
