Messed up SD 128 Meg card
Well, just had my first bad experience with my axim. However, I do not think its the ppc, but the memory card I purchased. I bought a 128 meg sandisk card.

So, up until yesterday everything was fine. Yesterday I get called to go down to New York. So I grab my ppc and hop into the car, hoping to to be able to listen to all the MP3's I loaded onto the card. Open up winampaq. no problem. Open directory to add mp3's. Problem. There's no MP3 folder on my card. In fact only 3 folders that I created are still there. However, it was a pleasant experience to see about 10 folders extra I did not create, each one named with gibberish and funny symbols. They varied in size from 2 - 359 gigs. They were all system + read only folders. And the best part is, I coudn't delete them. Kept getting an error about renaming the folders with incorrect symbols. Well I didn't rename them, the fuc**** card decided too. Only option was to dl Storage Tools shareware, which allowed me to format. Anyone else had something similar ?

This is the last time I buy one of their products. (If it is there card, nto the ppc)

I would guess that your problem is almost certainly your card. Sandisk do have a dodgy reputation for their SD cards - especially those not made in Japan.

If your "ghost" folders are Read Only, then you will not be able to delete or rename them. The solution is to tap and hold them with a File Explorer, select Properties and uncheck the Read Only box. This may allow you to delete them.

The only other possible solution would be to reformat the card using a program like Pocket Mechanic Low level Format. This might just save the card.

I did change all the folder properties to not read-only. It would not allow me to delete them because of how they were named (with the funny symbols). I was able to format the card with StorageTools.

Kinda sucks, cause I did have some important docs on it. I don't care about the MP3's. Guess I'm not buying an sandisk SD card card again.

Compatability issue between Sandisk SD cards and Axim handhelds
Dell's forum has an article entitled: "Who Do I Contact Regarding a Compatibility Issue Between My SanDisk SD Card and My Dell™ Axim™ Handheld?" Apparently, this has been a common problem...

The url is http://support.dell.com/support/topi...ent?dn=1082866

Hope this helps!
