Boxwave cleartouch vs cleartouch crystal?
Hi,

Does anyone have any direct experience with boxwave's new screen protector, the "Clear Touch Crystal" and how it compares to the regular "Clear Touch"?

Thanks,

Artuk

NOOO!

I just bought a 3-Pack of ClearTouch a few days ago. Now they have ClearTouch Crystal for the same price?! If I only had waited a few more days! I don't even have an Axim yet! ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I bought them it would have been nice if they had said, "Do you really want to purchase these now or would you rather wait a few more days and buy our NEW ClearTouch Crystal?"

I'm sure I will love my ClearTouch but now I'm kicking myself. Maybe Boxwave can hook me up with a "free trial" of the the ClearTouch Crystal and I can do a review/comparison.

Well, at least you are getting a "proven" product.

Perhaps if you call/email them or PM that boxwave guy who posts here you can get a crystal one subbed in for one of the regular ones so you can choose. Its unlikely they have shipped it already.

Artuk

yeah they've already shipped my original ClearTouch so I can't do a swap. I'd have to ship the originals back and that costs money so its probably not worth it.

The Difference? Well just looking at the features I notice a few differences.

Boxwave ClearTouch Features:
Anti-Glare
Dust Repelling
Bubble-free Application
Fingerprint Free
Improves Handwriting Recognition
Reduces 90% of UV Rays Caused by Reflected Light, Protecting your Eyes
Washable and Reusable
Protects Sensitive Touchscreen against Scratches

Boxwave ClearTouch Crystal Features:
Features:
Amazing Glass-like Clarity!
Bubble-free Application
99% Visual Transparency
Ultra-high Transparency Produces Vibrant Colors
Protects Sensitive Touchscreen Against Scratches
Super Durable, Long Lasting Protection
Reduces 99% of UV Rays Caused by Reflected Light, Protecting Your Eyes
Washable and Reusable

Maybe we can get the Boxwave guy who posts on this forum to explain the differences in detail. From what I can see, the Crystal ones are clearer (more transparent) and reduce 9% more uv rays. But they might not prevent glare as well as the originals which are slightly less transparent but might reduce glare slightly better. Make sense? I don't think anyone can do a self test comparison yet since the Crystals just came out 2 days ago and noone has had time to get theirs yet.

I've had my ClearTouch (single) sitting here for almost two weeks, and my Axim won't be here for another two

Would have been nice to know about the new product.

hi,

a quick question about cleartouch, how long can this screen protector last before it gets all scratched up and not "clear" anymore?
and on the feature it says "Washable and Reusable " is this true? so we can just buy 1 and wash it and use it again and again?

thx

I have had my screen protector on my x3 since March with no noticeable change in appearance. Often forget its even there! Have had no reason to remove it, so can't comment on the ability the wash and reuse. May order one of the new ones just to see the difference.

I can confirm on the 'wash & reuse' part. When I first tried to apply the screen protector, I had a hard time putting it on - there are dust that gets under the protector all the time. Then I washed it a couple times, dried it and reapply. After many tries, I finally got it on the screen with just one small spot of dust on the corner.
One caution: becareful when you dry this thing, 'cos it easy to leave water mark on there if you don't dry it quick enough. I saw some recommendations on drying with paper towel, but I haven't tried it myself

I would use a microfiber cloth. Paper towel, toilet paper, etc. have lint and can scratch.

I am very happy with my ClearTouch, and I really like the Matte type finish. I purchased a 3-pack, and I'm on my first one, which I haven't removed since applying it in March!!

I use Flent's Eyeglass cleaner and special Lens Cleaning Cloths that I picked up at Lens Crafters. I spray a small amount onto the cloth, then wip the screen. It is also a good idea to brush any lint off of the screen before cleaning.

wow it seems that this cleartouch lasted quite a while and the wash and reuse feature is pretty neat, i'll probably order the 3-pack one and save the other 2 for future use.
Now if only they would release their active case soon then i can order both and save some shipping cost.

thx for the info guys

My experience with cleartouch has been great on my past PDAs. Always bought the 3 packs but never had my PDAs long enough to need to change the first one applied. =)
