Belkin IR Keyboard F8U1500
I purchased this on eBay and was wondering if anyone has got this specific keyboard to work with their X30. I've searched the forums a number of times, but most posts are about its compatibility with the X3i or other older models. Also, does a light turn on when a battery is inserted?

Thanks for your help and I look forward to posting more. I just got my Axim X30 this week. I jumped on that $266 deal at the end of July and am glad I did.

I just bought the F8U1500 from some seller on eBay, unfortunately, the product doesn't work at all. No signal is sent to the PPC. The seller had a 130 rating with only 2 negatives, but it appears they have sent me a defective model on purpose. Oh well. I guess I'll have to file a claim now.

Try pressing the four hotkeys on the left side, they responded on mine. It's a problem with a lot of units, and you'll have to contact Belkin for support. I emailed, but I still haven't got around to calling.

This keyboard DOES work with the X30, but there have been many reports about them not working properly at all. It IS quite possible you got a bad one.

The "person" I bought it from gave me an different image from the picture. It turns out it was an open boxed item from a best buy. Everything looked fine, but the keyboard has no response at all.

My tv remote had more of a reaction with the PPC software....

This is weird...I moved the keyboard back a little and the only buttons that work are the 4 hotkeys on the side like you said!!! Arghh!!! This is so annoying!!!!

I will be calling them on monday, you can be sure of that!

Update:

Called, they are sending a new keyboard. Hopefully, this one will work!!

Hmm. Mine works. I usually use it in landscape, with the IR on the left side. To start it talking to the Axim, I have to have the screen oriented in Portrait, hit both shift keys, and an icon shows up at the bottom of the screen. Then I rotate it using the button on the Axim I set up for that purpose, and it works perfectly.

I have the Axim IR port lined up slightly to the right of the IR port on the keyboard.

If I'm spending more time on the Axim, after I do that stuff, then I'll move the stand away from the keyboard and fiddle with the mirror. But I like to make sure the Axim has been initialized first.

I returned the keyboard and they sent me a brand spanking new one for only the cost of shipping! Not bad at all! All they did was take my credit card in case I didn't return the old model!

Mine works. You may have to enable the keyboard as well as the IR connection in settings first. I've not been able to use it in landscape or use some of the quick keys on the keyboard. But it types at least.
