Bluetooth GPS Units for X30
I've just ordered an X30 and would like to get a bluetooth GPS to use here in Canada. The Dell Canadian site is offering a Belkin unit. The Dell GPS doesn't seem to be available in Canada or at least the cust service guy in India didn't think it was.

Does anyone have any recommendations regarding bluetooth GPS units that are a good fit with the X30?

Thanks,
Dave

I bought a globalsat bt308 off of ebay. It worked great until i went and tried to charge it. It will not charge. I am sure it is a one million problem with it. But becareful of who you buy from. I bought it from www.computerpeople.ca . His ebay id is cpsedm. Maybe they are legit and the guy is on vacation or something but I emailed them a week and a half ago and again on wednesday and they still have not replyed to my emails. One thing is for sure they are getting an angry call on Monday. I would highly recommend the Seido G2500 for a car mount if you are looking. I know as soon as I got my GPS I wanted to buy a mount aswell.

Dave,

For tonnes of information on GPS for Pocket PCs checkout www.pocketgpsworld.co.uk . There is lots of reviews and information plus a forum section with lots of helpful knowledgeable members.

BTW I have the fortuna clip on BT GPS receiver (I believe this is very similar to Belkin one) a couple of weeks now and am very happy with its performance.

Hope you find some helpful information on the that site. Oh yes there is a section on the forum called Fortuna that is where you'll find lots of info on that particular BT GPS receiver I mentioned.

Good luck

Howdy,

I've been using a Delorme Earthmate Blue Logger GPS.

I just finished a trip from Dallas Tx to NYC and had no problems at all. Had no problems building trip maps and downloading them. During the trip the x30h and Logger were connected via bluetooth with out porblems. Everything worked as designed.

I bought it on eBay, turned out the seller was actually Earthmate, and I received the unit at a great price with super fast shipping.

Have fun !!!

The Dell Bluetooth GPS kit is posted on their US web site now and is 10% off at $224.10 until August 11.
Expected ship time is 1 - 2 weeks.
I couldn't resist and just ordered one.

I have the Belkin which can be purchased at belkin.com for $140. It is the same as the fortuna. It has XTRAC techonlogy which makes it work under dense tree cover or in parking garages. It actually does work. I can use it in my house or at work and it can keep the signal.

If you do get one look for an EEPROM update to XTRAC2. The 'old' XTRAC is somewhat slow to update (just under a second). XTRAC2 reduces the refresh rate to .1 sec (same as a normal GPS).
