Need a Case ASAP!!
I just ordered an Axim X30 High and I want a case to put it in when it gets here.
Only one rule - I don't want a beltclip case.
Any suggestions?

I found this link on the this site when I was looking for a case for my X30.

Hope this helps. Also I find it helps if you put in your profile your Location so people can direct their response to you with more specific information for where you are in the world.

The two that immediately come to mind are the Rhinoskin aluminum case (opens like a book) that has a removeable belt clip, and the Piel Frama leather case (flips open) that has a removable belt clip. I don't know off-hand if any of the others have removeable belt clips.

Probably best to start off with analyzing what your needs and preferences are and go from there. If you're left-handed, some have said the Rhinoskin is awkward to handle. I found it awkward because I have small hands and kept dropping it. Some love their Rhinos and it works great for them. Personally, I wanted a flip case that protected well all around and could hold credit cards, money and SD cards. The Piel Frama works great for me.

I know what you mean about needing a case. I've used a Body Glove Data Suit case with my Palm for years. It's been great, cause I could carry it around like a wallet.

Unfortunately, I can't find something like it for my new x30. Aluminum cases are too hard and most of the leather ones are too bulky.

Looking forward to seeing some of the other suggestions.

i don't understand what is all the buzz with the cases here, i don't use one myself, just slid it into my pocket(come on, it's a pocketpc!) when I need to carry it around, and my axim x5 still works perfectly with no major scratches(yeah, only one 2mm long on the back), it's a tool, i don't want to take care of it like a baby. Beside, don't all the new axim x3/3i/30 come with a nice leather case anyway?

btw, please don't flame me

imo its just like why do you buy a 5k watch... or even a 1k omega... when a 10 dollar walmart timex will work perfectly in telling you what time it is...

or why you spend 400 dollar on LV or 150 for Coach wallet... when that velcro wallet you use in junior high is still functional for carrying your cash...

like the decision to go nude for you, some opt for money clip instead of walet, that's a personal choice, and I hope whatever choice ppl make, they like their choices because they are the person that's going to see it the most.

perhaps you are right, to me simple is good, convenience comes before show off.

For me, its not a matter of showing off. Its a matter of protecting an investment. Ask the fella who recently fell off a canoe and destroyed his if he wishes he had some protection for it. After spending several hundred dollars on the unit itself, and more on the software and various accessories, I don't think $40 is too much to spend for a little insurance on having it last a good long time. Mine still fits in my pocket and is convenient, but now its also well protected. Having it look nice is just an added bonus.

"convenience" that's why it is in a case for me... so I can toss it in my bag with my other stuff.

if its nude, I would either carry it on my body *like you do in your pocket* or be sure that I put it in one of the separating pouch in my bag.

but as it is, it isn't my baby, I give it a tougher skin and abuse the hell out of it, all the things that I won't do if its naked. My rhinoskin case is SCRATCHED like hell... simply because I can and I do.

that said, hell ya I am shallow! I am currently looking for a neat looking leather case to accessorize with my professional get up for when the occassion calls for. When you are at a meeting, pulling a leathercase instead of an aluminum case seem more appropriate. my front runner is covertec because the stitching goes well wtih my wallet... shallow... and proud of it!

my aluminum case, as you can see, it is far from babied... I shudder to think what my axim would be like if it has not been in the case.

He never mentioned a case. Maybe if he had a decent one, it would have protected the screen from shattering and his unit could have been saved. All I know is that I'd be kicking myself in the ass if I decided to be a cheapskate and not get a case and then something happened to it. But then that's just me. I haven't got an extra $300+ to throw away on a new pda if something happens to this one. Not unless I want to end up in divorce court.
