I have recently purchased a Covertec case for Axim X3*
Curiously enough, there are very little review about this specific case but one from PyroGamer
http://www.pyrogamer.com/index.php/reviews/40
So that's why I decided to not so much write a review, but just some pics and talk about it. Hopefully it give other ppl who are looking into a case more ideas of what the Covertec is like.
I purchased this just a day before the announcement of the Aximsite discount on the Vaja Case... so needless to say, I am somewhat tempted (ok, ALOT!) to get that also...
My main motivation for purchasing the Covertec is size. I want it to be slim, non obtrusive... I like the fact that the Bikini holder leave much of the screen and the front open. I feel that most of the other case give a close feeling by enclosing the whole screen in leather.
I also love the contrast stiching. As you can see, my wallet also feature contrast switching. Too bad they don't color match...
I love the way the magnetic snap looks, its classy and cool. The snap holds firmly, so you have to open it like a snap and can't be open with frontal pressue easily.
I can't speak much for the Belt Clip since I don't use them and don't feel like installing it to see... but the kit seems very good and complete, and even include a screen driver for your convenience. Good attention to detail.
The snap closure can be fold backward forming that palm holder thingy... Very good combination of the best feature of snap closure with magnetic closure.
The case is design for X3* with or without the antenna. The top have enough room to fold over the antenna. One irony, the one case which leaves most of its sides open have probably the best antenna protection... Because of the extra room tho, it does have some give between the front flap and the screen.
Since I have had my Axim for a while, I know my patterns and this case with minimum protection makes sense for me. I have not drop it once in my rhino and the place I put it in my bag is safe from being crushed etc... so my primary goal was slim fit and look (uniqueness)
I took some pictures of it with my Coach wallet. The leather IMO is OK. It is a bit grainy... Since I have never seen Piel Frama or Vaja, I don't know how good they are. The Covertec leather I suppose is good for a PDA, if the same leather is use for my wallet... I would not be so sure. It would prolly be 40 dollar quality wallet, not in the $100+ range.
There is still no reset opening in the back... I guess they have more confidence in my Axim not crashing than I do
