Reusing an iPAQ adapter for X30 charging?
Hi,

I was wondering if anyone might know the implications of using an older iPAQ charger output rated at DC 5V and 2A versus the Dell Axim charger rated at 5.4V and 2400mA output. Since the small miniplug adapter that came with the Axim seems to fit the old hp2215 adapter I wanted to see if I could use the old adapter with the new X30 for charging. Just wanted to save a few bucks if I could...I've got 3 old iPAQ adapters lying around not getting any use.

Thanks,
Brad

OK... I must be missing something.

I have a h2215 with several HP adapters and it does not come close to fitting the charging port on my X30.

Thanks Bobby. I figured I'd try it eventually, but I thought I'd ask to see if others had experience.

whitelyt,

The simple charger that came with your iPAQ should have a standard miniplug on the end. Your X30 should have come with a small adapter plug that you could attach to the end of the standard Axim power adapter so you could charge it without having to dock it.

So what I'm talking about doing is taking that little adapter plug and using it on the old hp adapter by plugging it into the miniplug of the iPAQ adapter.

Make sense?
Brad

Yep... I see what you're talking about now. The X30 that I got did not come with that attachment because of the way that acquired it (hit someone over head and ran)

Then it should work providing the HP power adapter provided the power requirements necessary for the X30.

yeah, there's a slight variation which I was concerned about the HP adapter pushes 5Volts and 2Amps where the axim charger pushes 5.4 volts and ~2.4Amps. I will probably go ahead and use it, I'm just hoping that .4 variation does't degrade the battery.
