Wish List

I thought this would be a good topic for people to post about the stuff they don't think exists yet, or price points that they'd buy things at but won't pay the current prices.

I'll start:

SDIO GPS with a slot for your own SD memory so you can use the GPS, access lots of stored maps and listen to your MP3s at the same time.

For under $100.

An output/input cable with two connectors. For example, you could use one for charging the Axim or running it off a cigarette plug, while hooking the other to your cell phone for Internet access. I may end up making one of these for myself eventually.

SDIO air card also with a pass through for memory or a GPS or both. At a price that's competitive with low end stand alone cell phones. Get with the program guys, people only have one slot and may actually use their PDA for more than one thing at the same time.

A USB host cable. So you could print, use external hard drives or plug your camera into the Axim and download pictures. These PPCs are powerful little computers in their own right, and we should be able to use them accordingly.

Bluetooth devices that are as inexpensive as their hard wired brethren. Also smaller than they are now. Say a Bluetooth GPS that's the size of a credit card. Same for a Bluetooth V92 land line modem.

Just to beat this point to death, manufacturers should assume that all Bluetooth devices are going to be carried in someone's shirt or pants pocket, and design them accordingly. They should also assume that people will be carrying more than one of them.

Cheaper WiFi day rates at Starbucks and other commercial hot spots. $7 a day is outrageous, and monthly rates are a rip when you're only travelling for a couple of weeks. I'll be getting my coffee from smaller coffee shops that actually give away free WiFi to attract customers. Unfortunately, not all of them have the equivalent of a Mocha Malt Frappacino.

A hard bottom-plug-in remote control that duplicates the button assignments on the Axim. I'm sure I'm not the only one who will end up using their Axim more often as an MP3 player than anything else, and it would be nice to leave it in the case on my belt or in my inside jacket pocket, but still be able to start and stop play, change songs and adjust the volume.

A TV Tuner of some sort. Something along the lines of this CF unit I found through this forum:

http://www.eopstech.com/eops/pro1.html

I could say a general wish list would be for anything that is available in CF be made available for SD. Even if it was large, an SD to CF adaptor would be nice so I could use all that CF memory I've got and use CF devices until they were all available for SD.

Any others?

An adapter so you can use your Axim in landscape mode with the Dell foldable keyboard.

If you think $7 a day is outrageous, you should come to the Starbucks here where they charge $7 an hour, or $10.99 for a DayPass!

A voice activated Axim that clearly understands what I am saying without any issues...so I can look up contacts by saying a name.

Oh yeah, a Axim with a 1.5GB built in hard drive so I can stop buying SD cards!
