I've always wondered how hard it would be to interface one with the serial port and write a driver for it... the serial port interfacing part is relatively easy, anybody know how involved it is to write a PPC driver?

The lousy d-pad is what is stopping me from installing extra games and stuff. For now, if I can't play it with a Stylus, I don't even bother installing it.

I couldn't agree more. This is from another post I made in a different thread, but it certainly belongs here too.

We need someone to come up with an addon. I'm showing 3 ideas below. The first two use the sync port and involve electronics and drivers, where the last one is a sort of d-pad extension.

I sold my Axim X5 and got a Sony Clie because of the GC10 game controller. It worked perfectly...but it was on Palm and the entertainment power was a lot lower. I sold it and got the Axim X30h.

On my first Palm III I used one of these babies. It wasn't perfect, a little chunky, but it did the job.

I've never used one, but I think this one looks perfect. It's for the Handspring, but that's all we need. Something small and easy to transport and hookup.

I figure it'd be easier to get someone to create an addon then it would be to return my Axim to buy something else. Besides, I already tried that and was disappointed. I don't want a GameBoy, I want a PDA that can do everything I want it to.

It always angered me that the Clie has so much stuff for it, but sony has put absolutly no effort into their development, and I hear theyre actually cancelling the line (unconfirmed rumor of course). Meanwhile the axim is exploding in popularity, and i dont know if its dell being a nazi, or companies just being dumb, but its hard as hell to find stuff for it. I nearly fell over when I found the GPS unit I has has a special cable JUST for the axim.

Well keep in mind, Dell is the only manufacturer that sells its units directly to customers. Everyone else sells to retail stores. A retail store isn't going to stock accessories for a PDA that it doesn't / can't sell, so Axim accessories are hard to find (except on the internet).

I'm pretty sure it's confirmed: Sony's no longer going to be selling the Clie line in the US. On the other hand, they're releasing one with an OLED screen in Japan.

Bluetooth would be the way to go! That way we could use the controler if we traded in our axim for the next model.
Is there one made for any other system?

Only problem with say Bluetooth is the controller wouldn't be connected to the Axim. I like the idea of the GC10 because you end up holding something like a Gameboy. If I'm on a bus or in the car I don't want to have to have my buddy hold the Axim while I play the game. :) Especially if the buddy is driving.
