I did notice a couple spots where I was on the highway and it said I was offroad but only minor stuff nothing for me to complain about it picked up some stuff that my cars gps didnt. The way i see it nothing is perfect but I am happy with this unit and the software provided with it sure there maybe something better but hey the software was free with it.

Dell does not produce it's own GPS. It is OEMed from Globalsat, and the software is identical to the Belkin based on Intellinave version 1.1. So how is it more compatible?

Before making such a statement make sure you can point to a thread where you read this.

Half correct, the Belkin is a rebranded Fortuna Clip-on with Xtrac version 2.00. Current Fortuna's have Xtrac version 2.02 and is much more sensitive than the 2.00 version. The Dell unit is from Globalsat and is a rebranded BT-308, you can pick these up on ebay, sans software, for about $110.00.

Both use software that use data from Navteq. They both use an OEM version of Intellinav 1.1 and they use the same map data.

You can use pretty much any software you would like. From what I have seen the only vendors that try to keep up with the abolute latest maps is Mapopolis and Microsoft. Mapopolis is very good except that it lacks some advanced features like 3D views. Microsoft Pocket Streets doesn't route, it is just a map application.
