Dell has one made by Belkin. According to the E-mail I got from them it's intended use is emergencies only. Could not get them to commit to length of tim a 9V battery would last. One could easily be made with parts from radio shack or other electronics parts sources. Tempted to get one myself sometime just to try it out.

My girlfriend got one for her X3 from the Dell site. She did use it for a few days while waiting on a replacement power supply after our puppy mangled the original one. Her results were about the same as what is claimed for the one at your link. No adverse affects noticed - but of course YMMV (your mileage may vary).
