extended battery + cases in australia
Hi.

I have been doing a lot of reading on the forums here, and there is a lot of good information.

But I would like to get some direct input on my planned purchase. I have just got a A30 from DELL and I am looking at doing a lot of wireless/bletooth enabled work (geocaching etc).

Based on this, I need two things. I need a really solid case, and I need a extended battery, ie, 1800 or 2000mah to run the beast for a reasonable amount of time.

A lot of the posts on here have indicated that to get a battery of that size into a hard case there is a fair amount of modification to be done.

Are there any other options for me?

On another note, anyone know of a reseller in Australia that can sell such items

ta

Nyx,

You are right that the back of the hard case would have to be removed to fit the larger 1800mAh or 2000mAh battery. There are those who are willing to do the modification for you, for a price. If you want names you can PM me.

Also, for the battery, we ship worldwide including to Australia on a regular basis.

Just a few more things...

i hear the 1100mah battery can run in the hard cases without modification...

can you change a battery on these on the fly without losing any data?

that way i could just run with two 1100's and change it when/if it gets flat when im on the run...

Nyx,

Uh, I don't think so. The 1100mAh battery (or 950mAh) will fit in the hard case. But the 1100 is a little too tight and will take a slight modification of the prongs that hold the Axim in place. Then removing the Axim will be a little tricky. It can be done and while I've never had to do it, there may be a level of difficulty involved. Others here may have actual experience on this.

Sorry I couldn't be clearer than this.

Nyx,

A nice case that can hold the 2000mAh battery is the Piel Frama case (make sure it;s the model designed for the extended battery). You could also consider the Belagio case. There is another thread here somewhere about that case. Also, you could just use the search feature here and look up "case" or "belagio" or Piel frama" to find information and reviews on these.

So, have a great day and I hope that we get your order!

Hi nyx - welcome to the site

The best range of accessories for the Axim I have seen in Australia are at the Australian site for EXPANSYS.

This is probably because a lot of their stock is overseas (they are in the UK and US as well) - but it shipped to you from their Australian base.

They also have a fairly responsive forum where you can ask specific questions about products - if you can't find the answers here - of course

Where are you in Aus?

Hi nyx,

Let me suggest few options to you.

1. 1800mAh or 2000mAh Battery and Piel Frama Extended battery leather Case.

2. Multiple 950mAh batteries and any case of your choice.

Currently we are running special deal for AximSite members on the 1800mAh batteries and some cases here:

http://www.cases.com/aximsite.htm

We are about to add a standard 950mAh batteries to that page at $19.00. They are in stock if you are interested.

About cases, just visit our store for the widest selection:

http://www.aximcases.com/store/aximx3.html

If you have any questions regarding batteries or cases please let me know, and YES, we do ship to Australia!

Can't help you with cases, but I just ordered an 1800 MAh battery for $25 = S&H from Global Batteries and got it in 2 days! You are on the other side of the world from me, but Global ships from several continents, so you probably can get it quickly. Let us know what case you end up with.

These batteries are assembled in China or Hong Kong (I am not sure) however the cells are made in Japan by Panasonic or Sanyo. It is really hard to say who the manufacturer is. Does anybody know who the manufacturer of the original Dell batteries is?

....What I am sure is that the performance of these batteries is equal or better comparied to original Dell batteries.

We now also have standard 950mAh batteries in stock:
