Stowaway Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard - Use it?
Have any of you used this keyboard? http://www.thinkoutside.com/products/stowaway-bt.html

I would imagine it would drain your pda terribly. It's expensive and I'd love to know if anyone has used it and the pro's and con's.

I bought the Dell keyboard, and it sucks. Doesn't like flat, small....yuck.

I checked nerds.net and didn't see any retail online purchasing functions....what am I missing?

I did find it on Amazon.com for $84.54 with free shipping:

I was considering a keyboard similar to this, however, I don't know if it would be as useful for most people as a thumboard would. Please keep us updated uapyro on how you like it. Being in college, it is important to have a good keyboard for note taking.

got it, and it is great. the keys have an awesome responsive feeling when typing. you have to the secure settings for bluetooth, otherwise its a hassle to keep hooking up whenever the device turns off after 3 minutes of activity. what i didnt see the instructions say is press enter after entering the numeric code (whatever you want) on the keyboard. the functions and shortcuts are great...
if i had known about the amazon price, i would had gotten that, but still worth it.

I have it and its great it has an excellent power saver feature excellent response when typing, I am a university student and i can take my axim to class with the keyboard and have both the wireless and bluetooth on and it will definately last for my 3hrs lecture of course i don't keep the screen and full brightness, yes the pricce is a bit steep and u may ask why would u want wireless how far can u really move your pda for those of you in UNiversity it really comes in handy to be able to detach it especially when your in a class with a thousand plus students u can detach it keep the keyboard on your lap and have the pda site in the little writing pad that is attached to your chair at many times. in terms of downside is the flimsy pda stand the one i have broke at both the hinges don't know why the stand will be made out of plastic seems pretty dumb if u ask me, but other than that its a great keyboard i love it and use it daily

I have the Dell branded version of this Stowaway BT keyboard. I had some trouble getting them to work consistently together. But once that was done, it has worked very well. Small, solid, easy to open and close. Convenient to not have to attach it. I would have liked a separate number row. It is more difficult to push different function keys to do numbers or characters on that row. Overall a good product.

if you have to use a series of numbers (ip addy, phone number, etc) there is a number lock key using the FN and caps lock key that keeps it so you can keep entering numbers. i wouldnt had found this if i had not gone though every function key to see how it does. but it works good

I have been using the keyboard and mouse for almost two months and have not had problems. I take copious notes at school/work and would highly recommend this product.

My brother just purchased this keyboard about 3 weeks ago. I helped him set it up to be used with his Zodiac so I got to play with it for a while.

The pairing of the keyboard could have been easier and done better on Think Outside's part, but it's not that complicated to scare me off.

I noticed that the folding and unfolding takes a second to get used to but after that it's very intuitive.

The drain on the batteries seems incredibly mimimal and with daily use, I can easily see the batteries lasting at lest 2-3 months.

But I did notice some serious flaws that are keeping me from trading in my current Dell Foldable Keyboard for the Think Outside version:

1. Lack on number key row. Like I stated, I've used this keyboard for a time and although you do have the FN keys it's still annoying. It's not a "deal breaker" to me but coupled with the other flaws that I will list below, it kind of is...

2. I've noticed a sizable delay when typing. I touch type and pretty darn quickly, so I was appalled when I would type just a few words and some letters would be missing!! And some letters just took a second or 2 to appear... this irks me to no end. Again, I'm not the fastest typer in the world but I can get busy with the keys... this is unacceptable in my eyes. Maybe my brother got a bum unit. Maybe I type too "fast" for the keyboard to keep up. Maybe the Zodiac is a piece of crap, I don't know, but I sure as heck am turned off by it. LOL!

3. The construction, although minor for most, doesn't live up to the huge price tag. The keyboard feels "okay" but the stand is begging to be broken. It's thin, chinzy and cheap feeling and looking. I'm not shocked that a member stated above in this thread that his stand broke and you shouldn't be shocked either if/when your's does too.

4. The price... sure, bluetooth devices aren't expected to come cheap but when you factor in the vices and what you actually get, for me, it's not the best deal around.

I'm looking for an alternative to the TO Stowaway KB right now but until I find something cheaper that suits my needs or they drop the price of the TO, I'll just keep using my current Dell Foldable KB.

i use that keyboard every single day of my life and i absolutely love it! its getting to the point where i use my pda and keyboard more than my laptop.

for me i needed a super small and lightweight keyboard to carry EVERYWHERE with me. the lack of a number row is hard to deal with at first, but ive gotten very good at using the fn keys.

i have never noticed any lag with the TO keyboard, except when it turns it self off for power saving, and even then just a few seconds and all the letters come up.

i have noticed 2 small cracks on the cradle, but it is due to me dropping it out of my shirt pocket.

bladepda, how usefull is that bt mouse? i saw it on the internet and thought about it, im just not sure how much i would use it. what do you use it for?

Don't give up on the Dell foldable! I'm a writer and have used it extensively for my rough drafts away from the desktop for about five months now. At first I felt somewhat the same way as you do, after using the old Targus Stowaway with an HP 568 for a couple of years, but now I actually prefer the Dell foldable. Hope this helps!

I jus bought the HP foldable keyboard. It has the number row, large keys (larger than JavoEdge) and works great.
