SDIO Devices

You know ... it just occurred to me that way too often (like once a week or so) I go browsing for a couple of minutes because I'm wondering what might be new in the world of things I can plug into my Axim.

I'm interested in, but don't have, a few bluetooth thingies -- GPS, keyboard, headphones, for example. I've yet to find anything in the way of SDIO-connected devices that grab me. I don't want a camera, or a modem; networking is already taken care of, etc.

What am I missing? Is anyone using SDIO for something other than an SD card?

I'm looking into purchasing Veo's Photo Traveler 130S handheld camera which requires a SDIO slot for remote video conferencing. Much of the SDIO products are geared more toward corporations in the way of bar code scanners and the like for doing inventories and stuff. I'm sure as SDIO gains in popularity more and more home and personal products will be developed, unless you can find a home use for a bar code scanner in which case you are good to go :)

I just mentioned the MARGI Presenter-to-Go SD Card in another thread earlier today. It can be used with a VGA projector for making presentations with your PPC instead of a laptop.

Note: I'm not recommending this as I've never tried it (my PPC has a CF slot). It's just an example of a use for the sd slot.

Toys for your axim

Buy a video projector and start throwing presentations and photos on the walls.

SDIO USB host would be extremely great... i would love it... but, that would just make me wish that i could get my 2nd gen dell dj to be recognized as a mass storage device so i could use it with my x30... i know it can be done with iPods

I am not sure which generation of Dell DJ I have but it does work as an external HD (mass storage device) via USB. Well at least mine does. Do the new ones allow you to do that?

Nope, as a matter of fact I had to install a patch/driver so windows media player would see it as a music player.
