How secure is Secure Digital?
I love a bargain as much as the next guy, maybe more. The price drops on 1GB SD cards is making them attractive. But when I go out and research the user reviews on some memory products,(recently USB Flash Drives), I read horror stories about certain brands. Before I plunk down my $$$ for an big SD card I'd like to hear what cards people here are having good luck with and which to avoid.
TIA,
-cadjak

I have a PNY 256MB compactflash card and numerous SanDisk SD cards from 64MB up to 1GB....never had a problem with any of those brands. Some of the more popular ones are SanDisk, PNY, Kingston, and Lexar. There was a story a little while back that made headlines on the internet where a guy using a SanDisk card with his digital camera had it set up to watch a bridge being torn down. During the explosion the camera was completely destroyed. However, the card survived to show a really cool 1 frame explosion of the bridge. Goes to show you how durable SanDisk cards are.

Back when the X5 was the latest and greatest, many people had problems with Sandisks. Take a look at the SD site here for more details. However, it's been awhile since I've heard anything negative about Sandisks, so I think you'd be pretty "secure" going with them now. Always remember to backup your stuff (regardless of which brand you use) and keep in mind that Sandisks have an excellent replacment policy. Other good brands include Panasonic, Toshiba, Lexar and Kingston.

Thanks,
I went for a Lexar 1GB SD card from Amazon. They have a good return policy if I have a problem. I know the price will drop soon but I just got my X30H and needed some sort of additional memory. This PDA stuff can run into some $$$ I'm finding.
