Compact Flash and Secure Digital are two different types of memory cards. Think of the difference between them like the difference between a 5.25" floppy disk and a 3.5" floppy disk. They go in seperate types of drives. Likewise, compact flash is physically larger than secure digital. Compact Flash memory cards can only go into Compact Flash memory slots and Secure Digital memory cards can only go into Secure Digital memory slots. As your Axim x30 has only a Secure Digital slot, you don't need to worry about CF cards at all.

And just to confuse you, you can use both MMC and SD cards with your Axim. SD cards are MMC cards with the addition of some sort of digital encryption. SD cards are generally more common, however.

Don't bother with Compact Flash cards. You want either Secure Digital or MMC cards. If you see SD or MMC refered to as flash memory, don't let that confuse you. Flash memory is the type of memory that both Compact Flash, Secure Digital and MMC all are. However the only form of flash memory compatible with your axim are the SD and MMC cards.

If you want to listen to music on your PDA, I'd recommend getting a 512 MB SD card at least. If you want to just get started off without too many extras you can try picking up a 128 MB card, they're pretty cheap. Check them out over at ecost.com for some great deals
