Guys/Girls,
@ Cadjak: Yes, the current model number for the Dell Folding Keyboard is
F2041 which is listed on Dell's website. It also appears as the item number on my Invoice. Any other item number would suggest that you're either buying an older version of the Dell Folding Keyboard or a different model entirely. Where exactly are you purchasing this keyboard from?
As for the using the keyboard: I have small, thin hands and my only computer is a laptop so I'm sort of "used to" small, tight keyboards, but I have to admit, that even for me, the Dell Foldable Keyboard is a tiny bit cramped... but considering that it folds down into a third of it's full size and can fit in any pair of normal fitting men's pants/jeans, it's a pretty damn good deal.
The keys on the keyboard are surpisingly responsive and have a little "spring" to them making tapping the keys smooth and comfortable. I often type for 45 minutes+ straight with no break and the keyboard feels pretty good. I do have to take an occasional rest, but that has nothing to do with the keyboard as I seriously tore my right wrist lifting incredibly heavy weights at my gym (me = meathead

) and I'm a righty so it's Hell typing most of the times regardless of how big the keyboard is.
I love pulling this sucker out and banging out some posts here on Aximsite, writing some papers, notes, etc. It's so darn handy. Text entry is a breeze with this thing. Also of note: the Dell FOldable Keyboard has built-in shortcuts to things like "Calendar", "Indox", "Home", "Contacts", and the Start Menu which saves you from having to stop typing and tap the screen or press a hardware button. And to trump that even further, you can assign up to 10 user-defined shortcuts to any programs you want using the numbers 0-9! It's so freakin' cool and easy to use this keyboard! If you do a good deal of data/text input I would HIGHLY recommend the Dell Foldable Keyboard. :approve:
@ TofuTurtle: If you purchased the Keyboard direct from Dell, there should be a Blue CD in the box. On the CD is a full PDF manual and the most up to date drivers. The Keyboard
WILL NOT WORK without proper installation of the drivers. Maybe that's why you can't get your keyboard to work. Have you installed the drivers per Dell's instructions? If, for whatever reason, you don't have the CD with the drivers, just go to
www.dell.com/support and download the lastest drivers directly from them.
As for "Portait Mode": it's the default way the screen is held and displayed- upright. Where the height is greater than the width, if that makes any sense. The plug to affix the keyboard to the Axim is set in a fixed position so the Axim can't be tilted on it's side to be displayed in "Landscape mode" where the height is LESSER than the width. That's the ONLY drawback on this keyboard, but it's a minor one.
Anyway, let me know how it turns out for both of you. Best of luck. :approve:
