PowerPoint Presentations
O.K. I recently purchased an Axim x30 with the intentions of bumping the laptop (bricks).
I own a very powerfull video projector and I will be purchasing the Margi cable to connect the two.
However when I received the X30 it appears as though it does not already come with Pocket Power point or a way to read my presentations.
Is a copy of pocketpc not part of the deal or what?
If not how do I get a copy?
My home base is Managua, Nicaragua, so I prefer to get a copy via internet download if it is necesary to obtain a copy.

Go to Handango at www.handango.com, and look for the software "Pocket SlideShow". It's $20 - Use discount code 51F5FA75 for 10% off. Hope this helps.

Before you do that, go to Pocket PC Magazine and see what they had to say about the various software that addresses the lack of PowerPoint as a PPC application. (Look in the "Best of" section)

In addition to comparing software, I'm about 95% sure the Margi device includes software for converting a PowerPoint presentation on your desktop and other software for showing it on your PPC.

I'm only 95% sure because I actually got the Lifeview FlyPresenter that I use with my PPCs. AFAIK, it's only available in CF format so it won't work with the X30, but it came with software and from looking at the Margi website, it appears as though it does, too.

That doesn't mean you might not want to get some better software but you should be able to use the VGA device while you are deciding which program to go with.

You should definitely make sure the software has the features you'll need. I only suggested Pocket SlideShow because it appears to have the most current update (12/3/04), has won several awards, and is the least expensive of the options on Handango. Good luck with your search.

Doesn't Dell still ship the free IA Presenter?

It's a very good Pocket PC Powerpoint app. that comes (or maybe now only came) on the supplemental CD.

I made the purchase and I will see for myself.
I figure $18 will not break the bank. (10% discount)
IŽll give it a shot.
IŽll also have to figure out exactly how to get software from my PC to my x30.
I assume it is an easy step.
IŽm new to this so I hope I donŽt mess something up.

Thanks for the PocketPC magazine suggestion.
This is what they had to say about the program.

Pocket SlideShow
A powerPoint presentation viewer - the conversion filter moves presentations into Pocket PowerPoint format. It renders the notes in ClearType, has a full screen presentation mode, and supports all standard PowerPoint transition effects. You can adjust the font size and view slides in a thumbnail view and change their order.
