Battery Life
Hi all,

I have bought the axim x30 and have been using the wifi access on it, bluetooth etc has been turned off as im trying to get the most time out of the battery. The Processor is set to auto and brightness is in the middle. On average I get a little over 3 hours none stop use. Im looking to extend this time as high as possible. I have seen there are 1800mah batteries that I will get, but I guess this will only take the battery life upto about 5 hours tops. On IPAQs I have seen Battery Jackets that give you a second battery, something like this would be perfect , but I havent been able to find one.

If anyone has any ideas on how to increase the battery life by a substantial margain I would love to hear.

- just an after thought - if there is nothing as a battery jacket , is there anywa of having a battery charger, so I can have a few batteries on charge ready and waiting ?

Thanks for reading
Jon

Do a search for 'battery extender' here and you will see some other options.

Just buy some additional batteries off Ebay for the incredibly low prices, and then just swap as you need (the charger charges an extra battery, as I'm sure you know).

By the time you run out of juice in the second battery, the first will be ready again.

Then get out there and buy a cradle (Ebay, for example). You can find them out there, or buy them from Dell, or PPC Techs, or usedhandhelds.com.

A cradle is shipped standard with all Axim X30 highs...part of the extra price you're paying for.

Thanks for all the help.

Yes, it can. And don't feel bad about asking more questions.

Yeah, JohnnyV, it's a learning curve. In a few days or weeks, you'll be answering questions for new users. So ask away. I will say that you should read the FAQ on the first page (as well as all of the other items on the front page of Aximsite, as that will answer many questions), and also take a few moments from time to time to search for an answer (on the tabs at the top of the page), as that may even save you the time of typing a question.

That said, when you have a question that you can't find an answer to, PLEASE ASK! It's why we're all here.

The cradle can charge any Axim X3 or X30 battery (they are interchangeable). And it can charge the PDA at the same time. I bought 2 additional cradles so I can keep about 4 batteries charged at all times. I've lost one of my 950s, though...small little buggers...
