I would advise anyone with a PDA to buy a pen with a stylus built in. The stylus that comes with any PDA is small, awkward, and difficult to use at best and generally a pain in the butt.
But I have found the ultimate quad action pen. There are many on the market that have black ink, red ink, pencil, and a stylus but Fisher has the official space pen version.
What does this mean? In addition to a fine pencil and a wonderful stylus you get two inks that write upside down, in extreme temperatures, on glossy paper, and even write underwater. In addition to these features, pressurized ink makes this pen write incredibly smooth with no bubble or blots. Heck, it even increases the life of the pen. This pen totally rocks!
I personally find the Axim X30 stylus to be fine. But I have worked with electronics for many years, so I am used to handling small objects.
I do carry a 4 in 1 stylus pen in case a friend has to borrow my X30 and can't handle the supplied stylus. (Tara would keep on dropping my stylus!)

I use the Flat Fish quite often and it fits just fine in my hand. Though I also have a generic 4-in-1 that I keep in my planner. Mostly use that for the pens than I do the stylus.

I have that pen... The stylus also works underwater but unfortunatly my x5 doesn't (I learned the hard way)
Silly fellow - thats what the Otterbox cases are for!

Funny--my "flat fish" stylus also works underwater...

If your using any other stylus, I'd recommend a screen protector.
A friend of mine brought 2 in 1 Staples pen/stylus and overtime it
scratched his screen.
I wouln't consider *not* having a protector, even if I was using just the flat fish. Just because it came from Dell does not mean that it's immune to dust. I use WriteShield and love them (no air/lint on the first try).
Just in defense to the overengineering remark... you may not find yourself in zero gravity but you may have a need to write upsaide down (like when using the wall as a backboard). You may not take your Axim underwater but you may spill a drop of water on the paper you are writing on and it's not unheard of to need to jot a note on glossy paper. Even the extremes in termperature come into play if you leave the pen insider your car during the winter or summer.
But yes. I like gadgets. That's why I am on this forum :)
