Axim X30 serial hotsync cable
I apologise if this question has been asked before but I couldn't find it...........I am looking for a X30 hotsync cable with a serial connector as I have to connect it to my works laptop (Dell Latitude D600) that runs on Windows NT (SP6). The laptop does has some usb support provided by Dell but this does not recognise the unit. I have tried an IR and bluetooth adaptor but there are no drivers available to support this hardware on Windows NT. Is a serial hotsync cable available and where is it sold in the UK ?

you should check out USB to Serial adapters, they are pricy too though.

Have you tried a cheap wireless router on the Ethernet port?

Do you have all the D600 updates installed from Dell? What has Dell said about the problem? Trying to use two Dell products you would think they would be very helpful. You would think if you have a USB port and OS greater than Win95B it would work.
Do a search on internet for pda serial cables. I am sure they will ship to UK as well. I know there is at least 2 companies that make serial/PDA cable which was mostly used for connecting to a serial device (GPS).

Thanks for all suggestions.

ydrsbtr97 I had a look at your link but it seems that this cable is not suitable for hotsync.

jdh1415 I have found a USB to Serial adaptor at my local shop (£30) but would it work as I have read in this forum that the wiring of the serial adaptor would not be right for the hotsync version. Also there seems to be a driver provided with the adaptor. If I can't find an alternative I'll try the adaptor....

star882 I can't use a router at work as the ethernet port is used to connect to the network. Work would not allow me to connect a router to it.....

dude55 I have found 2 usb support programs for the laptop. I know that there is some usb support on the laptop as the usb symbol is in the right bottom and it accepts USB Flash drives. I'll try an find out what program is included and try it with the other one. I have also bought a Dynalink Bluetooth adaptor which has a NT driver available so fingers crossed that I can get this to work on the laptop. The laptop is at work at the moment so I'll have to wait until tomorrow......I'll keep everyone updated...

If you can be discrete about it, IT would not know unless IT can trace and indentify.
