Think Outside BT Keyboard or External Foldable Keyboard
Hello all, I have been looking at geting a keyboard and I cant seem to make up my mind. The BT keyboard seems like a realy nice option for a keyboard but they cost alot more than the foldable keyboard, witch you can pick up on ebay for a decent price. I'm just looking for some feedback on the advantages and disadvantages between the two.

Im guessing that one of the advantages of the BT keyboard is they you can use it in portrait mode but is it worth it for the price?

Any info would be great, Thanks guys.

My suggestion would be to go and get the foldable keyboard. I have it and I love using it. I use it for taking notes in my psych class, and it really helps me out. The no landscape use does kind of bug me, but it's a small con in the great product.

And I love using the Bluettoth keyboard in landscape, which is worth the extra coin for me. Guess it all depends on what you need and what you will pay for it.

My two cents, having used both IR and BT keyboards, is that if you can afford it, get the BT (glad I went with BT myself) . I use this often, the setup is easy once you get used to it, and not having to position the ppc to a fixed spot is priceless!!! If money is THE question, you will still benefit greatly from the IR type, it's just not as flexible to use.

Just a question for the folks with the BT keyboard. Can I use 3 BT devices at the same time? When I am near shore, I use my axim x30 with my cell phone to get e-mail. Will I be able to use the keyboard and the cell phone via BT at the same time? I would love the idea of using my axim in an otter case with an external keyboard in a zip lock bag while in the cockpit on watch at night.

The BT keyboard is a folding keyboard, too...

and it works great, especially with the new drivers.

the thinkoutside bt keyboard is the best engineered piece of hardware that i have ever put my hands on. its absolutely amazing.

deff go with bt. plus, when you upgrade to a new pda in a year or 2, you can use the same kb.

must also remember that the external foldable keyboard can also charge your axim and allow you to time simultaneously. i went with the external foldable keyboard by dell, but not being able to use it during landscape mode really sucks, either way you are using it to type.

Theoretically, you should be able to use more than 1 at a time. However, some BT hardware apparently have issues when used simultaneously. I'm not an expert, but I've read a few reviews that run into problems in this situation. The latest was a review (and now I can't remember where) of the BT mouse by TOtB. The user was able to do most of what he wanted, but he had to do some tweaking. My BT mouse should arrive this week. I'll be anxious to see how it works with other BT hardware.

The TO BT keyboard really is a marvel of engineering. I find myself opening it up just to look at it, like a work of art. Yeah, that's pretty pathetic. But it's a really neat device.

I can't answer the question about multiple BT devices. I'm interested to know, too, because I'm considering a Motorola V710 BT phone (Verizon).

I'd go with the BT keyboard if you find that you have any reservations and return the one you got. Landscape mode is great, plus I can use it with other devices I own/are coming out. Only problem I have with the BT ones is that the one Fn key is green and the other is blue - hard to tell apart in the dark but I trained myself pretty quickly as to what was where.

in my mind there is nothing better than my thinkoutside keyboard.
