X30 wireless + Moto A630 phone = (almost) no Bluetooth
I have an Axim X30 312MHz Wireless with the A05 firmware update and a brand-new T-Mobile Motorola A630 phone. I'm trying to get Bluetooth working, but it doesn't entirely work.

I can get the devices to bond/pair easily every time I try it by simply turning on discovery mode. The phone supports "OBEX File Transfer" and "Dial-up networking Gateway" profiles (according to Bluetooth manager as well as Motorola).

If I try to browse files on the phone from the Axim using Bluetooth manager, it just says "Waiting for device ..." for several minutes, then says "Could not create a File Transfer connection with the device <device name>". I get a similar problem with trying to push a business card via BT manager or a contact via contacts.

The only thing that I can do is dial a number on the phone from the Axim's contacts. The screen that flashes by mentions that it uses the SPP (serial?) profile.

What's interesting is that if I have the phone ask me each time to authorize the Axim, it does ask me to allow the Axim to connect when I try to browse files. This shows that the Axim is trying to connect each time, the devices are paired properly, and both support the OBEX file transfer profile. So why doesn't it work? I don't have any other BT devices to test with and this is the first time I’ve gotten a chance to use Bluetooth.

(Also, the phone can discover the Axim, though it obviously can't do anything with that since it isn't a headset.)

I am able to send contacts from my X30 Mid (A02) to A630 without any problems. Also succeeded to transfer photos from A630 into the X30. Have not tried yet the Dial-up connection or number dialing from Axim.

What exactly do you do to transfer the photos or contacts? I've turned BT on on the phone and Axim and followed this guide for trasfering files: http://www.aximsite.com/bluetooth/. They pair and start to work (It says "Connected to device"), but then it just says "Waiting for device ..." and never gets the list of files. After a while it times out and just says "Could not create a File Transfer connection with the device <device name>"

On A630: Menu -> Extras -> Settings -> Connection -> Bluetooh Link -> Setup -> Power = On.

On Axim: Start Bluetooth Manager. Click on New. Go to 'Explore a bluetooth device'. It should show your phone. Click on your phone. In the service selection window, you should see two profile, OBEX and Dial-Up. Select both (one at a time) and complete your set up. It should now show two shortcuts. That's it.

Now go to any of your contacts on Axim and select "send via bluetooth". The contact will be transferred to your phone. Similarly you can transfer photos from your phone. For this, from the shortcuts, select the OBEX shortcut for the phone. After some activity, it will show you two folders (Pictures and Sound)... Rest should be easy.

Thanks a lot, liamtoh1. It works now.

The strange is that I did exactly that hundreds of times before and it never worked, but now it works perfectly. Maybe it has something to do with me trying to send stuff from the phone to the Axim (which works perfectly) earlier today.
