GPS for x30
I have just gotten a x30 high. Looking into a GPS for it. I have seen one that fits the SD slot. I have also seen those that work with Bluetooth. Which is better?

Thanks, Charlie

I have a bluetooth one, chosen over SD, for a few reasons. Primarily, GPS maps are huge so you'll need an SD card to hold them If the GPS is in that slot...well, you're sol. Also, I can use it with other computers (laptops, etc.) - I prefer flexibility. Furthermore, I can keep the GPS in a location in my car where it's out of the way and gets good reception without worry whether I can glance at the screen or not. I have the Belkin GPS - not the best but I wanted to start inexpensively for my first GPS endeavour. One thing about the Belkin that's great: sensitivity is very high- I can keep it in the console inside the dash without direct line of sight to the sky and I still get 8+ satellites. But, to the point, I'd stick with a bluetooth one so your sd slot is free for storage.

I agree. Since your X30 (like mine) has only one expansion slot. So to have a GPS receiver in there limits your options. There is another advantage to using a BT GPS receiver is that it will not drain your PDA's battery during use away from a power source.

Myself, I have a RoyalTek RBT-1000 fast and sensitive. I keep the receiver in the glove compartment of my Jeep Grand Cherokee and it still picks up satelites and is in BT range of my PDA (located in the lower left of the windshield). The battery lasts for a while, but I have a 12v power cord connected to the GPS when I am driving. So even if the 12v power goes out the RBT-1000 internal battery will keep it going.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have more questions.

Kendall
