It looks awkful!
I got some screen protectors for the Axim on Ebay and After a few trials, I was able to put it on perfectly. But then it really look exactly like a piece of clear plastic on the of the screen. Anyone can tell with just a glance. there was no bubbles on there but it looks so unclear. I paid $5.95 for 8 pieces. Does it really need a screen protector? Any suggestion? thanks.

got any more details on the product?

some people make screen protectors from clear plastic overhead sheets,
perhaps you bought a batch of those?

If you try Boxwave, Brando or WriteShield, you will probably notice a big difference compared to what you bought from Ebay. The quality protectors are barely noticeable (especially the crystal/clear ones) and have a good finish to them.

Moved to Accessories.

Only if you want to protect the screen. If you're not satisfied with the ones you got from eBay, there might be better, but more expensive ones you can try, possibly made with better materials.

Otherwise, you can gamble on being one of the lucky ones who never get a permanent scratch on your screen that will never go away. Or you can risk being one of the ones who come onto Aximsite and beg for a way to get a major scratch off of your screen.

I have the same problem with the Belkin screen protectors that I got from Dell. $17 for 12. No dust, no bubbles, but the adhesive is celarly visible and obscures the screen somewhat. It's less of a problem indoors with the screen at full intensity, but outside or with dimmer setting it's hideous.

I've heard good things about Boxwave and some other "high end" protectors, but haven't tried them yet so I can't comment.

As far as whether their necessary or not, I think so. After only a couple months my Ax started showing definite wear patterns on the screen.

I also bought the same screen cover you are referring to off Ebay. They Suck!!!!! At the time I thought they were a great deal. But when I got them and tried to put them on I noticed they had lint all over their sticky side. Everyone of them! and then they didn't even stick to the screen. I tossed them out 5 mins after receiving them in the mail. I just chalked it up as a learning experience. Now I ask opinions here before I buy any accessories for my Axim.

nah...i never bought a screen protector. why? my first pda was a handspring visor. i sat on it and cracked the screen. a plastic film wouldn't have helped it. the next one was a palm vii or something. after a few years, a few minor scratches but it was already time to upgrade by then. so i got a toshiba e740. i used that for a while and by the screen is still nice. but it was time to update to get b/t, updated os, and a faster processor. and i still won't get a screen protector. by the time this pda screen is cracked, it will be time for a new pda anyway.

Screen protectors are a must for me. I will always use writesheild they are the best I have ever used and are extremely durable. I have heard good things about brando and boxwave too, but have not experience with them. I now buy my protectors before my axim gets to me so it never goes naked.
