Battery question...
After using WiFi and listening to Music at the same time and seeing my default battery die in less than two hours, I've decided to scope out the 1800 battery. Dumb question. They can be charged in the cradle, right? They aren't too big? Sorry, it's a stupid question.

Also, what time extension would I get with the 1800 compared to the default battery? Anyone know? See, I don't want the 2000, because it's 39, and a battery that is only 200 less is $15 less...

Don't own an X5, but if you want a comparison of how long it will last just put them into a fraction with the mAh of the standard battery over the 1800 one.

To answer your other question, you can charge it in the cradle by itself or in your Axim.

I considered this, but then it would not work. The X5 does not have a faster processor, newer OS, and built-in Wifi to drain the battery. This seems to me to be a list of factors that could render the testing useless...

Charges in cradle.
Charges just fine in the cradle slot. The battery is twice the thickness of the standard battery but the contacts are in the same position, well it would not work in the axim if they were not. Doubled my battery life and the Sena case fits great. Yes it adds some bulk but its worth it for the usage increase.
