Seidio G2500
I have been looking for a mount for a while for my X30H/Belkin GPS, and finally have decided on a Seidio after much research.
There is only one thing keeping me from buying this mount tonight, and that is this:

I have a 2003 Malibu, and the windshield seems pretty far away to me. Whenever I turn on/off my RADAR detector, I have to unbuckle my seatbelt to reach up there.

Is the normal 8" gooseneck long enough, or should I spend the extra $12ish for 14" gooseneck? Also, any recommended places online? buygpsnow.com no longer sells them, and Semsons. Semsons would be a great place, but from how they give off the impression, when I try to select a 14" gooseneck, I would get both the 8" & 14" ones, when infact I only need one. Someone actually ordered one from there with the 14"?

Other than that, I'm ready to buy. Thanks to anyone that can give me some advice/help.

They have offered discounts here on Axim a time or two ago. You radar detector is small with no extension. The 8inch unit works for me in my car (Ford Contour) plus I love the vent mount that comes with it. I think the 14 inch would be for Vans, Trucks or RV's.

yea, i saw the discount thing. I would feel better with an answer with someone with a malibu, but if that isnt possible, just measurements would work. and as for the radar detector, true it is small. but in my parents silverado truck, i have no problem reaching all the way forward.

how would I go about measuring that needed distance? i'm guessing it needs to be mounted from near the bottom, or slightly above there, and it wouldnt be a straight shot would it?

measurements on the normal position would help a decent amount. like 3" above where the window begins, arched down, etc whatever.
