Want final word on sync-charge cables
I have a question concerning single sync/charge cables for the Dell Axim X30. My unit came with the USB cable which plugs into the Dell, which also has a connector at the Dell end for connecting the AC power adapter for charging the Axim. I have read countless contradicting articles regarding the USB cables available for the Axim which sycn and charge the Axim through the USB port WITHOUT the need for an AC adapter. Some say it is great - no need to carry the AC adapter. Others say it only works if your battery is not very low. Others say they could damage your Axim. Others say the unit must be off (or on) for it to charge. And others talk about which connector pin the charging voltage is on at the Axim end... being different pins depending on whether the AC adapter type connector is used vs the single sync-charging cable. Dell must obviously support or know about the issue, since even when buying an Axim online, you can choose one of the Belkin brand sync-charge cables. Why does Dell provide you with the one that requires the AC adapter? If the AC adpater is not connected to the standard Dell cable, would the Axim still charge through the USB port? Can anyone please clarify this whole issue?! Thank you.

from i know is a usb port provide some current (dont know how much) but it has

to be fairly low, on the other hand the ac charger was designed for

a fast charge versus a slower and longer one with usb.

usb tongles have been around for a while now, from recharging your

cell phone to running an electric usb toothbrush, so it's all good

I use a retractable charge'nsync for both my cell and Axim, and have never had a problem, and even recharged from low by turning the Ax off after syncing.
