New to Handhelds
I've pretty much decided that I "may" get 312 MHz Axim X30. May since I've been reading some of the posts and I'm kinda worried.

Questions:

I will be using this for a backup to my laptop if it goes down while I am teaching Excel.

1)Can any portable PDA keyboard work with this unit?
2) What accessories will I need to purchase if I use it with a projection unit?
3) Anything REALLY different with this Excel on the PDA vs the one you may find on a laptop.

1 or all of the questions answered would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the site!

1. Depends which of those X30s you get. If you get the low model then you will need to get the one from Dell that attaches to the bottom or a keyboard that uses the infra red port on top. If you get the mid model then you can also get a bluetooth keyboard.

2. I am not aware of a cable that will let you hook up the X30 line with a projector. The X50v can have a cable attached to let you hook it up to have external VGA mode.

3. Yes! Pocket Excel is much more limited then its PC version. Certain formatting and advanced cell functions are not available on the PPC.

With any Axim model, you can also use an IR keyboard.

As jpmarth explained, Pocket Excel is quite limited. However, many people use PlanMaker instead.

BTW, welcome to Aximsite!
