Anybody got any recommendations for headphones?
I want to start listening to music on my x30 and wondered if anybody had any recommendations for some good headphones. Like earbuds and would also let me know where to get some at a good price. Any help would be appreciated people.

I'm looking for same for my X50v and doing some research. It seems like there are 2 general choices for earbuds:
  • The kind that seals in your ear. They really isolate you from outside sound - great if you don't want to hear anything except the music. Not great for driving. Sure E2C or E3C and Etymotic ER6 come up a lot for the high end.
  • The kind that doesn't seal in your ear. They don't have the ultimate sound isolation, but in the car I think that's what you need. They're also cheaper.
I've seen people mention the Sony MDR-EX71SL, but I can't tell what type they are.

You guys who know more: am I on the right track here?

I've got a pair of the Sony MDR-EX71SL ear buds and I really like them. The fit inside the ear canal rather than sitting in your ear (if that makes sense). You can find them for around $30 online. Buy.com has them for $28.99 right now.

Does that mean they block out so much noise that they would be unsafe while driving? I want to be able to hear someone honking at me, at least!

Thanks.

they block out noise, but i think you would still be able to hear a car horn. either way, i think its illegal to drive while listening to music through any type of earphones in most places.

Ok, The sony's are nice. Depends on what you want to do though. If it's just listening to music, overall sound is great with it. Noise reduction is decent but be aware that after a while, it hurts your ear. I had them on a flight from london to dallas and after about 3 hours, my ears started to hurt. I now have the bose triport earphones. They cover the whole ear and the noise reduction is awesome. It has a great full sound. If you want something for your car, think about getting an fm modulator or something. It is illegal to wear headphones while driving.

The 71SL is an earbud that you insert in your ear. The noise reduction is great. The sound is even greater. I wouldn't go back to what I was using before.

Whoops! I didn't think about that. Probably should have - it makes a lot of sense. Thanks.

Not in-the-ear, but probably the best $30 I've ever spent for headphones.
Koss Porta-Pro

Extremely comfortable
Good to excellent response
