Bluetooth Headsets
I know this is probably a very dumb question, but I'm new with all this stuff--my axim hasn't even arrived in the mail yet . Anyway, I'm wondering if one would be able to use a bluetooth headset in conjunction with Skype for PPC in order to make calls via wi-fi. It seems like there would be no problems with this, but again, I'm not very good at this kind of stuff. I'd appreciate any help or input.

/edit
By the way, I was thinking of purchasing this

Yes you can!

<----

BTW, this is the logitech mobile freedom headset, works great!

I recommend you get a bluetooth 1.2 headset, since it has less interference with wifi. The one you wanna get has bluetooth 1.1.

Awhile back, there were reports of Skype not working with BT headsets on the X30:

I am not sure if it ever got resolved, but I'd look into this a bit more before you invested in a headset just for Skype.

Wow, Gigi, thanks a lot for the heads-up. I was thinking there might be some sort of problem using both bluetooth and wi-fi at the same time, given that they're similar protocols. I'm still going to try the BT headset, but given this information I'll buy it from Best Buy instead--if it works I'll keep it, if it doesn't then it's much easier to return.

Actually, there is no problem using BT and Wifi at the same time - people do it all the time - it seems like it is just the combination of Skype/wifi/BT that seems troublesome. Good idea to just buy a headset you can easily return. If you get it working, please post your results!

RE: Headset
I don't see why there would be a problem. Bluetooth is pretty universal in its application. I have not tried it personally, but it says the headset will work with PDA's, so I assume there would not be a problem.

Not yet, but it improves the quality of audio playback on my X30 using my logitech headset. It also shows signal strength now, but I still get a yellow question mark when I'm viewing the connection.

Will give it a try tonight with skype.

Still doesn't work. The other person in the call can hear me, but I can't hear them. Even tried switching the power management off on the wifi connection, but no luck...

Just to add that it does work with with SJPhone and FreeWorldDialup, but the quality is crap and the volume is low (even at max vol on the headset) and you can only alter volume on the headset's +/- rocker switch.

SJ Phone seems much less CPU intensive than Skype, with a wired set of headphones it work great with the Axim running in powersave mode (204Mhz).
