I noticed that I need to have the Travel Syn so that my PDA, Axim X30 can have a USB connection with the computer while on the run outside my house. The cradle is far to heavy to carry around.
My question is,
1. Once I get the Travel Syn, do you also need to plug in the power so that I can use the USB port? or can I just plug it in and connect it to the computer?
2. If the above is possible, does that mean I can use my PDA as a flash drive, since I can put into my Axim an SD card, ie transfer stuff from computer to the PDA's SD card?
3. What speed would it transfer documents at? Is it USB 2.0 or USB 1.0 type of speed?
Belkin, Boxwave, Ziplinq, and probably a few others make the retractable sync & charge cables. Some also connect to special wall & car power adapters for charging on the run.
Welcome to Aximsite!

If you use the Dell cable you'll need to connect to the power supply, but there are retractable cables that draw power from the laptop.
Simply drag and drop files using Explorer.
Speed will be USB 1.0 on the Axim X30
Dear Jogga,
thank you for your info.
Just to clarify, does that mean that the travel sync cable will not work as a USB connector , if I do not connect it to the power supply?

Dear Fulltext, I did go to the Ziplinq and found what you meant . It costs like 8-9 usd.
I have a question please.
Is the USB transfer rate pretty much fixed at 1.0, or can I change it by somehow buying a USB cable 2.0? Is there such a thing as USB 1.0 or 2.0 cable?
You are limited to that speed by the internal bus on the Axim.
For faster transfer speeds, remove your flash memory card and use in a USB 2.0 card reader.
